Homeschool PE Curriculum Review & Giveaway

This month, our family has had the opportunity to try out the homeschool PE curriculum provided by Family Time Fitness. Family Time Fitness emails subscribers a set of 20 new lesson plans each month. Each day's lesson plan begins with a series off warm-up exercises, followed by physical activities and game play, wrapped up with a series of cool-down exercises. Each day is full of fun, whole-body games and exercises.

We found the activities to be fun, and I really liked that the activities are flexible enough where we can do them inside, outside, or take a trip to the park for a special treat. I also appreciated that you didn't need any fancy, expensive equipment. We had everything, except for jump ropes, which I was able to pick up cheaply at Wal-Mart. 

When you first begin the lessons, you are provided with a physical assessment test, and I'm looking forward to see how far the girls have come along.

The curriculum includes video demos for each activity and exercise as well as daily activity email reminders and fitness/nutrition tips. The Core Physical Fitness Curriculum Level 1 includes 260 lesson plans (that's 52 weeks of 5 days worth of lessons). For just $9/month for 12 months, or a $77 one-time fee, you have access to the Core Level 1 curriculum for life.

My Thoughts - This is number 7 in the series and I haven't read the first six but I wasn't lost. I have to admit this book was a bit different for me but it's nice to get out of my comfort zone. It was very well written, very fast pace, enjoyable, and I love a sexy hero.

My thoughts - It was action packed right from the beginning. Call me a romantic but I'm not all for the one night stand thing. See, it causes nothing but trouble and boy does it! You follow Zak and Acadia's relationship as it evolves from the one night stand into something more. It was a very very sexy book and a very quick read, surprising with all of the descriptions. I will be picking up the second book when it comes out!

Curb Your Enthusiasm is my Favorite Show!!

I can't wait till April to see what Larry David has planned for the latest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Each season of this HBO comedy has an arc that ties together every hysterical episode. One season Larry was preparing for a Broadway show while in another the story line had him believing he was adopted and searching for his birth parents. All of the most recent season featured the buildup to a Seinfeld reunion which Larry staged purely as a way to win back his estranged wife.

If you have never seen Curb Your Enthusiasm I definitely recommend you search it out. Larry David was one of the creators of the Seinfeld show and in this comedy he plays himself, though I would have to hope it is a highly exaggerated! version on him. His character is a disagreeable curmudgeon that must constantly deal with the everyday problems that haunt all of us but somehow send him into fits of anger or embarrassing consequences. He is surrounded by a wonderful cast of family and friends.

I love that this show is on HBO which allows me to see it often through the on demand feature on my satellite service from www.TVByDirect.com. This way I never miss it and can watch it repeatedly at my leisure.

Mandie's Thoughts - This was the most hilarious memoir I have ever read. Whether you like her or not, this is funny. REALLY funny! I've watched a little Saturday Night Live but I've never watched 30 Rock, I might now. Sarah, I mean Tina was very self depreciating at times but it gave you an honest look at who she is. She's actually pretty normal. She's a mom trying to balance her work, marriage, and child. If you have any sense of humor you NEED to pick up this book.

Shrimp Scampi Recipe and Recipe Hop

I'm craving Shrimp so that's what you're getting for this week's Recipe Hop.This is a Southern Recipe

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp (about 16 to 24)
• 1/3 cup clarified butter
• 4 tablespoons minced garlic
• 6 green onions, thinly sliced
• 1/4 cup dry white wine
• 2 tablespoons lemon juice, fresh if possible
• 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
• salt and pepper, to taste

Preparation:

Rinse shrimp and set aside. Heat butter in large skillet over medium heat. Cook garlic 1 or 2 minutes or until softened but not browned. Add shrimp, green onions, wine and lemon juice; cook until shrimp are pink and firm, about 1 to 2 minutes on each side. Do not overcook. Add chopped parsley and salt and pepper before serving. Garnish with lemon slices and parsley sprigs if desired. Makes 8 first-course servings.

All in one local search engine

   Don't you hate when you type in a search and it takes you to something for the nearest big city to you?  Now there is a local search engine.  It's a hybrid of several search engines such as Citysearch.com, Yelp.com, Yellowpages.com, and Superages.com! I'm all about simplicity and I'm happy to go to only one site now.

   It has everything from your local yellow pages, local business contact info, the hours of the business, and even driving directions to it. It even has local restaurants and coupons to local businesses. The website even has your local weather. It's a one stop shop!

    I played around with it and found local events like concerts, fundraisers, and events from local organizations and clubs that I didn't know existed along with popular local venues. You can look it up on your phone too if you are out and about or traveling to a new city and need to find directions, restaurants, and reviews!

   I found out that the Band Perry (Country band) is going to be in town for a free event at the local humane society this weekend!! Wow, I never would have known!

 

Extreme Couponing - Yay or Nay?

     I'm addicted to the show, there I said it. I love watching all of the free things they get. How they get a $1000 bill down to $6. It absolutely amazes me, especially since I could never do that being that they don't double coupons here in Florida. Not where I like any way.

    I am also amazed at all of the crap they buy. Tons of sodas, chips, every processed food you could possibly imagine. Some of them look like they eat a lot of that too. Not so healthy. I do have to say that some of the couponers do say that they buy fresh produce and meat too.

   I use coupons but I don't buy things just because they are cheap if I'm not going to use them. Maybe if it were something I could donate then yes but generally I won't buy it. Also if the generic is cheaper than the item with coons I'll just buy the generic. I'm not like Amanda & her 7 things she won't buy generic. I'll buy almost anything generic (except maybe Jeans, I'm so picky!)

I do have a nice stock pile and I add to it every week. We live in Florida and when I was preggo with my oldest I had her during a hurricane and lost power on and off for two weeks. I make sure we are stocked up.I can't say I wouldn't have things I didn't need if I was getting everything for free like the couponers on Extreme Couponing! What about you?
