Novica Review & $50 Giftcard Giveaway - Winner!!!

Novica promotes artisans from around the world. They are even in association with the National Geographic and have an incredible program where WE can give loans to artisans from third world countries to start their own businesses. It's an amazing company.

It took me two days to go through and pick out what I wanted to review. There are so many different and beautiful products. I finally decided on this Mocha Ceramic Tea set. It is absolutely gorgeous and very well made! (I did think it was a little weird to have three cups instead of four but I assumed maybe it was something cultural.)

I also really loved this dolphin wine holder but I thought my husband would want the tea set since he was going on about how we really needed one.
They have amazing handbags and jewelry too.

Novica also has a  program called Novica Live.
It's a home based sales program where you offer home parties.

You can sign up to become a consultant or host a party

It gives you the opportunity to see and feel the products up close.

Left Neglected Review & 2 Book Giveaway

Description
Sarah Nickerson is like any other career-driven supermom in Welmont, the affluent Boston suburb where she leads a hectic but charmed life with her husband Bob, faithful nanny, and three children—Lucy, Charlie, and nine-month-old Linus.

Between recruiting the best and brightest minds as the vice president of human resources at Berkley Consulting; shuttling the kids to soccer, day care, and piano lessons; convincing her son's teacher that he may not, in fact, have ADD; and making it home in time for dinner, it's a wonder this over-scheduled, over-achieving Harvard graduate has time to breathe.

A self-confessed balloon about to burst, Sarah miraculously manages every minute of her life like an air traffic controller. Until one fateful day, while driving to work and trying to make a phone call, she looks away from the road for one second too long. In the blink of an eye, all the rapidly moving parts of her jam-packed life come to a screeching halt.

A traumatic brain injury completely erases the left side of her world, and for once, Sarah relinquishes control to those around her, including her formerly absent mother. Without the ability to even floss her own teeth, she struggles to find answers about her past and her uncertain future.

Now, as she wills herself to regain her independence and heal, Sarah must learn that her real destiny—her new, true life—may in fact lie far from the world of conference calls and spreadsheets. And that a happiness and peace greater than all the success in the world is close within reach, if only she slows down long enough to notice.

Book Club Reading Guide

My Thoughts - I didn't connect with Sarah at first because she just had her priorities all wrong and I'm nothing like her but the writer makes you see where she's coming from. If you are a huge fan of Still Alice you may be a little let down but this is still pretty good. This book is PERFECT for a book club because there really is so much to chit chat about. I don't want to give anything away but if you read it - I kind of understood her mom, that's all I'm saying. I don't want to give anything away.

Simon and Schuster is allowing me to give away 2 copies!

Lovemode Review & $25 Gift certificate- Winner!!

Lovemode is a Juniors clothing store. I may be in my 30's but I still like to wear cute dresses.

The dress I received is the one to the left. I was a little concerned about the sizing because sometimes when I get juniors clothing it fits me weird but I read their sizing chart and ordered a small. When it came in it fit perfect! It's cute and comfortable. Perfect to wear on vacation or over my bathing suit.

Lovemode offers cheap juniors clothing, perfect for you or your daughter. Their prices are very reasonable. I found this same dress when I was in a tourist area for $40 the week before. This is on sale for $19.52. They have a HUGE sale area on top of their already inexpensive prices.
Lovemode is graciously offering a Time 4 Mommy reader a $25 Gift certificate to their store.

Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil Review & Giveaway

We've used a couple of different types of Coconut Oil over the years.
Especially when my husband was working out. He was in awe when Tropical Traditions send me, a pint of the Gold Label Coconut oil to try. Well he is in love. I love it too but even if I wanted to cook with something else, it is NOT going to happen.

I don't use vegetable oil for anything, I usually use peanut oil or olive oil and it's a taste you have to get use to in baking. So I made some brownies with the coconut oil and I was on cloud nine. The texture was incredible and they tasted oh so good. My husband said he didn't taste coconut which was fine with us.

I also sauteed pork, shrimp, and chicken through out the week. A little goes a really long way. Here some ideas of how you can use Coconut oil for cooking.

Flipflop Merlot Review

Merlot is a staple in my house.
While I have to admit the Cabernet was my personal favorite the
Merlot is the wine I keep around to please everyone's palate.

I had the Flipflop Merlot with some of my girlfriends.

Everyone loved it and kept asking me what is was, where I got it and NO ONE
believed me when I said it only cost $7.
The Flipflop is Medium-bodied, silky Merlot with plum and mocha notes, soft tannins and a balanced, luscious finish.
Great to sip with your friends or with a cheese burger.

Newman's Own Organics Review and Giveaway

I love Newman's Own Organics. Especially their chocolate bars. So silky and melt in your mouth, high quality chocolate too.I can't do Hershey's any more. They are just gross to me.

Every time we go the health food store my girls ask for a 'special treat' and usually get some Fig Newmans or split a chocolate bar. We also use to get the Alphabet cookies when my little one was learning her ABC's. Now that is a fun way to learn :)

Newman's Own Organics sent Amanda and I a box of all kinds of yummy treats. They had the Chocolate bars, Fig Newmans, Chocolate cups, and Alphabet Cookies just to name some.

  Got this from their Site....
Great tasting food that happens to be organic.' (That's what we kept in mind when we created our products.) We focus on the kinds of products we loved as kids, but take them one step further by using the highest quality of available organic ingredients.

We find that people really want to know how the ingredients are grown and processed on the way to their grocer's shelf. When people see how much organic foods have improved since the early days of packaged 'health' foods, we hope they'll try other organic food products.
But 'organic' may be the last thing you think of when you try our tasty Pretzels, Chocolate Bars, Fig Newmans™, Champion Chip Cookies, Chocolate Cups, Newman-O's, Pop's Corn, Alphabet Cookies , Olive Oil & Balsamic Vinegar, Dried Fruit , Soy Crisps, Hermits, Mints, Coffee and Royal Tea. They're just so good!

One of the BEST things I love about Newman's Organics..... I can find it in my REGULAR grocery store too. I only go to the health food store once a month but I go to our Publix much more than that and I pick up the girls' cookies or pretzels. I feel good about Newman's Organics and their products.

Newman's Organics are gracious enough to allow me to give one lucky reader some of their yummy treats. You will receive a chocolate bar, chocolate cups, Fig Newmans, and Alphabet Cookies. YUMMY!!!

Dark Corners Review & 2 Book Giveaway

      Dark Corners Description

Ella Reynolds knew from the first moment she walked into the old house someone or something was watching her. Waiting. Her husband's violent murder sent her spiraling into a world of grief and isolation, but Ella isn't alone. Who or what is responsible for her husband's death is still with her. Darkness has engulfed the past year of Ella's life. Everyday reality slips a little more between her fingers as she struggles to break free from her memories.

She must look deeper into her past as well as the present to discover truth of her husband's homicide. A string of uncanny events takes place and practical explanations run thin as Ella follows the terrifying road to closure. As the past and present come to a head, Ella must decipher who or what the murderer is before it takes her as well.

Mandie's Thoughts - First I want to say that I wasn't given this book to review but that I bought it. I know you'd think as many books that are sent to me I'd never have to buy a book again. Well this one came highly recommended on a book club I'm in and I figured it was only $2.99 for the kindle version, how could I not get it? As soon as I picked it up I couldn't put it down.

Ella is so flawed. She's paranoid, crazy, and a drunk but I really connected with her (& not because I'm any of those things). From the very beginning you have to know why she's nuts. You know there has to be much more to it and as you read you see that there is something about her house...

This book provoked so many emotions in me. I was angry, scared, curious, but most importantly entertained. I couldn't put this book down and it literally had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Dark Corners had me stumped and I'm really good at guessing the end. I was second guessing everyone and everything! I probably guessed every character in the book before it was over and I was still surprised.

I honestly think Dark Corners would make the perfect movie, one that even my husband would watch..

I loved this book so much I contacted the author and asked if I would offer my readers a copy. She was kind enough to allow 2 copies to give away! Your choice of e-book (international) or print (US)

Mandatory Entry - Tell me you want it and promise me you won't jump to the end ;)

Sweet Chic: Stylish Treats to Dress Up for Any Occasion Book Review

Sweet Chic: Stylish Treats to Dress Up for Any Occasion

DRESSED TO THE NINES
Today's baker faces a great challenge: With little time and a limited repertoire, she often needs to whip up a delicious dessert that's dressed to impress. Rachel Schifter Thebault, founder and head confectioner of Tribeca Treats in New York City, knows all about making a sweet statement. Combining a confectioner's expertise with fashion sense, she shares a scrumptious cache of popular dessert recipes that can be accessorized to fit any occasion.

What's more, transforming a basic dessert into a masterpiece brimming with personality and flair can be easy, quick, and fun. In the same way you'd plan an outfit, Sweet Chic pieces together a Devil's Food Cake -- the little black dress of delights -- with such irresistible accessories as Caramel Buttercream (think knee-high boots) for ultimate decadence, turns Vanilla Cookies (the crisp oxford shirt) into Strawberry “Shortcakes” ideal for casual or dressy occasions, and blends brownies (the cashmere sweater of confectionery) with a swirl of mint for a showstopping number.

Gorgeous and appetizing color photos throughout reveal how a change of icing here and a substitute topping there can take a simple dessert from Sunday brunch to a date-night treat. Mix and match more than seventy recipes for cookies, cakes, and confections, including Peanut Butter and Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies, Brownie Sundae Parfait, Mini S'mores Cupcakes, Wasabi-Black Sesame Truffles, and so much more.

Whether you're a novice baker hoping to master the basics or an experienced one looking to add a little versatility to your existing creations, Sweet Chic is a clever and practical guide for memorable desserts, a one-sweet-fits-all way to make a tantalizing impression.

Mandie's Thoughts - It's a beautiful book with beautiful pictures. I love the fact that it is sturdy and I need that in my kitchen. The recipes are simple yet elegant, like why didn't I think of that?
My favorite - The chocolate mousse! So Easy to make.!

My Lipstuff review & 6pk lipbalm Giveaway

I love lip balms. Everyone in my family does.
I always have one on the counter, one in my purse, and another in our truck & car.
So I'd say I'm an expert in all things lip balm related.
I'm also a lip balm snob. I don't like the ones you buy
standing in line at the check out. Nope, those just don't do it for me.

I was super excited when I got my lip balms from mylipstuff.com in the mail.
They have over 400 flavors of Natural lip balms and other skin- Earth- Animal friendly products
and they are VERY affordable. Especially for being as high quality as they are.
Right now I'm wearing the Mint Chocolate Chip balm. It smells so good and my lips feel silky.

You can even customize your own labels if you have a baby shower, wedding, or for your business. Did I mention they are VERY affordable? Only $2.50 each.

They also have room sprays for only $5, I usually pay at least twice that!
There is one called "No More Monsters".
Spray this around your room, on your sheets, under your bed,
& in your closet to keep monsters away!
Soothing Lavender scent to help them sleep. Alcohol Free!Fingertip spray bottle.

They also carry Bath Salts, body butter sticks, and Aloe Vera Spray.

They really have so much so go on over to My Lip Stuff and check it all out!

Now for the Contest!

BaByliss Pro Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron Review (30% Off @ Flat Iron Experts Link)

I've never owned a high-quality curling iron before. So, when the people at Flat Iron Experts wanted me to try out one of theirs, I was curious to find out if it was worth it to invest in a professional curling iron.

The BaByliss Pro Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron arrived in a really cute cloth bag tied with ribbon. I'm keeping the bag, so I can use it when traveling with the curling iron.

The details that were put into making the curling iron were definitely impressive. The handle is very comfortable and rubbery. The place where you put your thumb is the perfect size so you won't burn your thumb (which I am notorious for doing). There's an on/off button, where all of my previously owned cheap curling iron were just on if plugged in, with this curling iron, you can turn it off while it's plugged in. I also like the fact that the cord swivels, so it doesn't get tangled or wrapped up as you twist your hair around the curling iron.

Also, unlike my old cheap curling irons, this one's barrel is ceramic. That means the curling iron can heat to a higher temperature, retain that heat more efficiently, and distribute that heat more evenly. Also, ceramic barrels close the hair cuticle for a smoother, glossier look. With my older, cheaper curling irons, I would count to 15 to set each curl. With this curling iron, the curl was set after counting to 5.

Is it worth the extra money? You'll have to decide that for yourself. For me, I think it is, just in the time savings alone, and right now, Flat Iron Experts have the curling iron listed at 30% off

Disclosure - I received a free curling iron to try in exchange for my honest opinion. No other compensation was received.

Flipflop Cabernet Wine Review

Cabernet is my favorite wine. I love the bold full bodied flavor.
The Flipflop Cabernet was delicious!

My first sip tasted like strawberries, I read the tasting notes and saw it
was actually blackberry fruit and dark cherries. Well I got the berry part right.
I was surprised at how light it was compared to many cabs I've had.

My husband who doesn't like Cabs because they usually are full of tannins
actually enjoyed it. We actually had some with a cheese plate (Cabernet and a cheese plate!! CRAZY!) and then turned around and had some more with a steak.
This was very drinkable and I have to say the FlipFlop Cabernet is my new
favorite wine (and not because it's only $7 - although I really like that too)!

Flipflop Wine Pinot Noir

Those who have been following me awhile know that I use to be the General Manager of a fine dining restaurant and managed a 300 bottle wine list and while that was AGES ago.
I know wine, I love wine.
I know that you don't have to spend a lot of money on a good bottle. Flip Flop wines is only $7 a bottle. Hello! You can only buy a glass of house wine in a restaurant for that!

Today I'm going to tell you about the Pinot Noir I tried.

I hadn't had a Pinot Noir in quite awhile. I guess I was ingoring it because it became so popular after the movie Sideways. It wasn't that I didn't like it, more like I just don't like to be like everyone else so I stuck with my other reds. I did forget how GOOD it was. Well at least this one.

When I opened the bottle I couldn't decide if I should let it sit and breath for a bit or go ahead and pour myself a glass (it is inexpensive wine). I decided to go ahead and get a glass and it was like an explosion of fruit in my mouth. It was absolutely delicious!
The perfect wine to sit around and enjoy, you definitely don't need any food to pair it with but can if you want. Because the best thing about flipflop wine is to each their own.

Flipflop wines is so amazing that they have paired up with Soles 4 Souls Charity.
Good wine and helping children A company after my own heart.

Freckle Box Review and Giveaway

Frecklebox personalized gifts allowed my daughter to pick out a product to review. She sat down and took quite awhile to pick something out because as she says 'there is so much cool stuff there!'

She finally chose one of the personalized lunch boxes. Alexis loved the fact that she could chose a mermaid that looked just like her and in case you didn't know, Mermaids are all the rage right now. Or so I'm told.

When it came in the mail she practically tackled me and has been carrying it around ever since. If you didn't know we are homeschoolers but go on field trips all of the time. Since it's personalized we don 't have to worry about it getting mixed up with anyone elses.
Here is Alexis telling you about her new lunch box. She was a little shy :)

Alexis has made up a list of other things she would like from Frecklebox for her birthday.

She would also like one of the personalized journals because she LOVES to write! Her sister wants one of the personalized puzzles and one of the personalized books.

I love the fact that they are personalized gifts that are fun and affordable.

Frecklebox is allowing us to give one of our readers one of their products.

Dental Chew Balls for Dogs

I admit it; I'm a horrible pet owner. I have two 9 year old labs, and, before today, I'd never brushed their teeth. The ASPCA suggests providing "hard, safe chew toys that allow your dog’s teeth to be cleaned by the natural process of chewing."

This week, we received two Nutri-Vet Dental Chew Balls from Best Pet Health. The dental chew balls help clean teeth, condition gums, and reduce bad breath. Our labs loved the balls. They're made from a flexible, durable rubber, are covered with bristles, Denta-Knobbies(TM), to help remove food debris, and have small holes where you can apply the doggie toothpaste that comes with the balls.

Initially, as you can see in the video below, I put too much of the toothpaste in the holes. You really only need a small amount. I was pleased to discover the balls will be great for adding other treats as well (peanut butter, cheese whiz, cream cheese, etc.), because they're much easier to clean than other similar toys.

This is a great alternative to using a doggie toothbrush!

Best Pet Health is giving our Readers a Discount of
50% off the Chew-Balls (large or small). The code is CHWBLL50

Sometimes it's difficult to get children to develop healthy habits. They don't want to take a bath, brush their teeth, or do anything else unless THEY want to. They certainly don't care if a product is natural or not. That's why it's up to us. These products are fun with bright colors and uplifting scents that appeal to children.

I was lucky enough to be able to review TruKid natural products. I received a Face & Body lotion, Bubble Body Wash, and Sunny Days Face and Body Stick.

My girls aren't like a lot of kids, they love baths but after receiving the body wash they down right harass me to take a bath. I asked they how they liked it and they said they loved it. The smell makes they happy.  After their baths they rubbed down the the lotion. It also has a very uplifting scent. The Sunny Days Face and Body stick is my favorite. With summer practically here we are outside A LOT and I'm constantly putting sunscreen on them. This is very thick and water resistant. I didn't have to put it on nearly as much as other sunscreens I've used. The girls say it smells like sunshine!

I love that the products are natural, non-toxic and safe for them. They are FREE of Parabens, Phthalates, Gluten, BPA, SLS, 1-4 Dioxzane and Fragrances.

Trukid has a ton of fun things on their website to encourage children with healthy habits. They have downloadable charts , fun songs, and thekids can become honorary Trukid Team Members.  (My girls thought that was the coolest!!

Now my girls are already putting together their next order. We're thinking more lotion, some hair detangler, and have to get the sunscreen. If it's anything like the sunny days stick it will be awesome!
