So Much Cooler in Anime

      The creators of Supernatural were able to construct an animated world in which there were no boundaries. This new look into Supernatural brings new perspective to the show. From adding color, intensity and action to scenes, to vivid images of horrifying demons, the medium does not disappoint.

       I've been a huge fan of the 'real' Supernatural show for a long time but the anime really gives the show a new perspective without changing the basic story. 

I actually think it's amazing how just changing your perspective of something can change something entirely. I did it in my marriage once and the results were amazing. Now that I think about it, if my life was made into a movie I'd want it to be Anime. A - I'd be really hot (all the chicks in anime are) B - My life would be so much cooler in cartoon! I think Supernatural is a great show either way! I like to watch both for different reasons.

What Are Your Kids Doing This Summer?

I love summer. It's a great time for fun family activities. This summer, however, the smoke from wildfires near our house have been keeping us indoors. Recently, my 11 and 14 year olds have been releasing the pent up energy from being stuck inside to make videos. So far, they've made a music video using the song "Hot & Cold" by Katy Perry, and they've also made a super cute, short thriller film with a killer teddy bear.

We've also organized their rooms, joined some other local families in a weekly "Amazing Race" game with fun challenges at local businesses and parks, have taken a couple of trips to the beach, and they're continuing their BJJ classes.

I've been trying to come up with more activities we can do, especially indoor ones as there are many days where the smoke is really bad.

Rubicon on AMC - What are your Superstitions ?

I hate summer time when it comes to the t.v. Only re-runs and I spend all my time just flipping through the channels.That's why I'm glad a great new show is coming out in August instead of having to wait until Fall. It's called Rubicon.

 AMC taps into our collective paranoia with its compelling new conspiracy series, Rubicon. Will Travers is an intelligence analyst who cracks codes for a living. When Will’s world is shattered by an untimely death he begins asking questions, diving into a web of mystery and danger. Not every conspiracy is a theory.
The characters are rich and quirky. My favorites so far are Will (the main character), Miles, and David. David, Will’s mentor at the American Policy Institute, avoids the number 13 like the plague and spits on a broom that brushes up against his foot. David’s superstitions are so ingrained in his behavior that they become part of his identity in the eyes of his colleagues, particularly Will.
Do you have any quirks or superstitions? I'm embarrassed to say this but I have to shut allof the closet doors before I can go to sleep and make sure all of the doors are locked. I will check a couple of times even. I'd rather not cross a black cat, yes I know it's silly but I can't help it. I also won't go under a ladder.( although that's mostly for safety reasons :)  but I don't think my superstitions are nearly as bad as David's.

I FINALLY saw Eclipse!

A few years a go my BFF, who is a high school teacher, told me about the Twilight Saga. Why in the world would I want to read a teenage book about vampires? She insisted I had to read it. If you have not read it yet, I am insisting. I have converted many moms into Twilight lovers.

I would have loved to go see Eclipse (the 3rd movie/ book in the series) on opening night but with my mommy responsibilities, it just was not going to happen. Did I mention Eclipse was my favorite book? I love Jacob, he's so funny. I always root for the underdog, I just can't help it. I do believe Edward and Bella are great together but I just felt so bad for Jacob. Anyway, my husband took me to see it Saturday at the IMAX theater. IT WAS SOOOOO good. My husband even like it a lot. He can't wait to see the next one either.

We were laughing so hard and the fight scenes rocked. LOVE Billy, Bella's dad. He's such a scene stealer. Kristen Stewart looked so beautiful as Bella and Edward and Jacob looked pretty good too. The wolves were amazing and I was even okay with the new Victoria. A couple of little things bothered me.... I really wanted to shave Jacob's mustache stubble, maybe it was just the Imax but it really distracted me. Also, whoever did Jane's (Dakota Fanning) makeup should have been fired. I understand she was to look creepy but it just looked horrible. Other than that, I LOVED it!! I wish Twilight would have had this kind of budget, this was by far my favorite Twilight Saga movie! On another note, my husband asked my 5 yr old if she was Team Edward or Team Jacob and she's like 'huh?' She told him she was Team Daddy. Made him so happy.

Remember when I told you about the new web show High Drama Season 2? Well episodes 6-10 are up including opening night!
I still can't believe this show isn't on t.v.. Watching these highschool kids takes me back. My mom was very practical and wanted me to take practical classes and be involved in practical activities. I was in ROTC and Debate club - oh joy. It wasn't until I was a senior that I took drama and it was so much fun. Thinking back, I should have had more fun in highschool. I never went into the military and while I'm sure my debate skills work great on my 3 yr old, I never became a lawyer. Watching these kids have so much fun makes me smile.

I'm hooked on this show. Ali had to deal with laryngitis, Jackie,and Leanna lost their car in the mall parking lot while Jackie was trying to learn how to pick up boys, they got their college admission letters - well some of them, and of course opening night. My heart was really touched when the director had a talk with Tony.

I wonder what they are all going to do now. Being so young they have the whole world in front of them and even though Cameron is lost, I have a lot of hope for him.

If you haven't watched this show, I highly suggest it. My 5 yr old watched it and told me, 'wow, not all teenagers are brats' lol.

Love this Series!! High Drama 2

I recently came across this show online."High Drama 2" is an original web series only available on TheWB.com. I didn't even know there were show exclusive to the web. This show is called High Drama and I honestly can't believe this isn't on t.v.! This is the 2nd season. "High Drama 2" follows the theater company of Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as they put on their best show yet: The Wizard of Oz.
I was so hooked by the end of the 1st episode. I had already decided who I wanted for which parts. I took Drama my Senior year of high school which was ions ago, and this show brought back so many fun memories. I was rooting for certain kids. My favorites are best friends Leanna and Jackie. The director had such a hard time picking a scarecrow too so it came down to two. Dave is definitely my favorite.

Lovely Bones - A Book Review

My local book club is reading Lovely Bones for this month's selection. I wasn't exactly thrilled when it was picked due to the nature of the subject but boy was I wrong (you won't hear that from me much), this was a great book!

The Lovely Bones is a 2002 novel by Alice Sebold. It's the story of a teenage girl who, after being brutally raped and murdered, watches from heaven as her family and friends go on with their lives, while she herself comes to terms with her own death.

This sounded very depressing to me and as a mother, the subject matter broke my heart BUT the book sucks you in as you see how the family deals with this tragedy and how life goes on. I say if you haven't read it yet, you need to pick it up.

This is also being made into a movie.

This book is beautifully illustrated and that alone drew my children to this book. They "had" to have me read it to them. The "Can you find it" articles and the Treasure hunt list with stickers made the book very interactive.
