Saving Money with Customer Service

My website hosting is up for renewal soon so I have been on the hunt for reasonably priced hosting with reliable customer care. Saving a few dollars wouldn’t be bad either.

When I look for any new services, I always try to find review sites that provide comparisons so I can find a synopsis of information all in the same place. It saves me time and energy.

WebsiteHosting.com provides all that and more. The clean uncluttered look of the site is refreshing with so many busy, flashy technology sites. I like that they are not affiliated with any hosting services. They don’t have affiliate links all over their site. The information they provide is unbiased which gives me confidence in the information they provide.

On their homepage is a table of the top 10 hosting companies with fees and ratings to easily gather information. It was able to immediately assess which hosting companies to review and which weren’t going to fit my needs and budget.

The FAQ pages and resource pages have a wide range of articles that helped me in making an informed decision about what is available in web hosting today.

The section on Search Engine Optimization section was particularly interesting. I am always looking for the current information on optimizing my sites for discovery by search engines. It so important to monetizing my websites and keeping traffic up.

I was able to find just what I was looking for in a hosting site. I even got a better deal on the price of the hosting. If you are a blogger thinking about self-hosting, this site holds valuable information you will want to start with.

Clipix: Organize your Life {& it’s addicting :) }

There is an awesome new website that will let you clip the fun things you find online to refer to in the future. You create customized clipboards to add your clips to.  You can keep them private or share them with others. You can also add other people to your boards so they can add clips too! That way you can see what they add and they can see what you add.

This is perfect if you are planning a party with a friend! I can see where this could get very addictive. I made up a clipboard of books I want to read. I can add  the buying links and how much they are so I just click the cover when I’m ready to buy it. Clipix is pure genius!

It very easy to use too. You search topics like…. where you want to go on vacation or shoes.

Whatever! You choose the picture to those awesome shoes you want to buy and ‘clip it’ You save the picture and get to choose what clipboard to add it to.

Am I addicted? Umm maybe. Will I be spending a lot of time on Clipix? Definitely

Check out the video and let me know what you would clip!

Then head over to clipix and sign up.

Longing

I appreciate the guest post, Marian Combs
All I can do this afternoon is long for the peace and quiet that comes when all the work is done and the kids are in bed. The house takes on a whole new feel as I make my rounds, flipping off the lamps and double checking the locks on the doors. I can actually breathe for the first time today a sigh of relief.

I want to watchdirect tv saint petersburg from the comfort of my bed with the covers pulled tight around me. It has been an extremely long day and nothing will bring me more satisfaction than bringing it to a close with one of my favorite shows on my DVR. How did I ever live without this little device?

Technology certainly makes me wonder that very question often. My cell phone alone is a work of art filled with everything that makes my days go smoothly so that I can lie down at night and relax. With all the excitement of the day, I know sleep will find me easily tonight, right after a little Travel Channel.

Walgreens Prescription Savings Club

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

For the past year, Walgreens has negotiated with Express Scripts for a new contract to continue as part of its pharmacy provider network. Those negotiations were unsuccessful, and the contract expired on Dec. 31. As a result, Walgreens is no longer part of Express Scripts’ pharmacy provider network as of Jan. 1, 2012. This includes all Walgreens pharmacies nationwide and Duane Reade pharmacies in the New York City area.

Walgreens and Express Script  worked hard with negotiations. Walgreens offered to hold rates for a new contract flat and did not seek an increase in rates. The response from Express Scripts was to insist on being able to unilaterally define contract terms, such as what does and does not constitute a brand and generic drug. Express Scripts also proposed to slash Walgreens reimbursement rates to levels below the industry average cost to provide each prescription.

One of Express Scripts’ clients is Tricare, which is the health and prescription drug program for America’s military service men and women. During negotiations, Walgreens took the unprecedented step of offering Express Scripts an ironclad guarantee that Walgreens prices would match or beat the average costs per adjusted prescription of all other pharmacies in the Tricare network.  Walgreens did this in an effort to prevent our country’s military personnel from being caught in the middle.

Walgreens also offered to contract separately with Express Scripts for Tricare from other Express Scripts commercial business, but these offers were rejected. Express Scripts continues to refuse to negotiate a separate contract for the benefit of the Tricare program and its beneficiariesm and are putting military families in the middle.

Many patients under an Express Scripts plan have used Walgreens pharmacies for years and have a personal relationship with their Walgreens pharmacist. In an effort to minimize their disruption and inconvenience, Walgreens unveiled a comprehensive national effort to make this transition as smooth as possible and is doing all it can to help patients continue to use Walgreens when possible, or take care of them as they are forced to leave Walgreens in order to use their in-network coverage.

Walgreens has a Walgreens Prescription Savings Club   They are all about their customers and right now an individual can join during a special January promotion for only $5, or $10 for a family membership, and receive savings on more than 8,000 brand name and all generic medications. More than 400 generics are available with a three-month supply for less than $1 a week. Regular annual membership is $20 for an individual and $35 for a family.

Friday Night Lights

I grew up in a small town. There wasn't much to do but get in trouble or go to high school foot ball games. Now I live close to our local highschool and on Friday nights we hear the band playing and the crowd cheering.

It always brings back fond memories of hot dogs and cold aluminum bleachers. My butt gets cold thinking of it on the aluminum bleacher but I remember the letterman jacket I use to wear to make me warm. Good times.

Even though we home school our kids and probably will through out high school we plan on taking them to our local foot ball games. It's a fun past time! Do you go to highschool football games?

My brother and his family came for a visit from Washington, D.C. He had some business to attend to here and decided to bring the whole family. He and his wife have one seven year old daughter and triplet four year old sons! We always have so much fun when they come, but what energy those boys have. They were here for a week, and every day we would try to go somewhere different to keep all the kids entertained. One day we went to a children’s museum downtown and that kept them busy for about three hours. Another day we went to the zoo, and I spent a lot of time answering their questions like I was some kind of expert. They didn’t know the difference. That is what is so wonderful about young children. You get to tell them all kind of things, and they think you are some kind of cool genius. But when we would get home in the late afternoons, I would have to find something for them to do while their mom and I cooked dinner. Thank goodness for our satellite tv. They could always find some funny show on The Disney Channel or Nick, Jr. to occupy them for long enough for me to get dinner on the table. The week went by so fast, and I am pretty sure I am going to need a vacation to get over their visit.

Perfect Christmas Present

Watches seem to be going out of style with the kids. At least it seems that way when I see them pull out their cell phones to check the time. Really? My cell phone is always buried at the bottom of my purse. A watch is MUCH easier for me.

The fact that I don't have to quit what I'm doing, I just glance over to check the time. I also love chronograph watches when I'm exercising. Watches that also have a stop watch. It's on my wrist and not on my waist band or wherever I can tuck my cell phone.

My husband bought my watch for me as a present, it was a Seiko Invicta watches He especially picked it out for me. It's jewelry and means a lot to me. It's a fashion statement and special ;) I can't say that about my phone.

I really don't think watches with go completely out of style. I think the kids will just have to mature to appreciate watches. My daughters who are younger love their watches. I know that may change when they are teenagers but I believe they will go back to it.

Apple Raisin Oat French Toast with Cranberry Sauce

Apple Raisin Oat French Toast with Cranberry Sauce Recipe
by Mandie Stevens

Sunday morning I made a delicious breakfast. Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture and this picture is the closest I could find. I made Raisin, apple, oat bread the night before and made French toast out of it in the morning with a cranberry sauce instead of syrup. Did I mention it was delicious?

Here is the recipe for the bread. Like I said earlier, I made it the night before using my bread maker.

1 -2/3 cup of apple juice (I actually used apple cider)
4 ¼ cups bread flour (I used ½ & ½ wheat & bread flour)
1 tbsp Sugar (I used raw honey, you can also use brown sugar to make it a little healthier)
2 Tbsp Melted Butter
1 tsp Cinnamon
2/3 cup Oats
3 tsp Rapid Rise yeast for the Quick setting

When it beeped I added 1 cup of Raisins and 1 cup of Apples (you are suppose to use dried but I didn’t)

The next morning I made French Toast out of them, if you aren’t familiar with making French Toast, here is an easy Recipe –
3 Eggs
¾ cup milk
1 tbsp Sugar (once again I used the raw honey)
¼ tsp Vanilla
Bread

1. Beat eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla with beater until smooth.

2. Heat griddle or skillet over medium – low hear or to 375. Grease griddle with butter if you need to.

3. Dip your bread into the egg mixture. Place on Griddle. Cook about 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Cranberry Sauce – I made this just like I would for my Thanksgiving dinner…
1 bag off cranberries
1 cup of Sugar (I used Raw Honey)
1 cup of water

Cook it down, takes about 10 mins. You may want to add more sugar, I like it a little tart.
Enjoy!
